Polly's on tour again
Email or text if you want to come along
Rated: Armin van Buuren and Dave Pearce
Cleave: daunting timing
Doing stuff in London is great, but doing stuff together is heaps more fun. Here are a few things going on that you might like to join up for...
Polly's on tour again
Back from yet another sell-out in Italy, Polly has a few gigs coming up. Details on her label's site www.pollypaulusma.com, but email or text if you want to come along. Free drinks for those who were fans before Dark Side hit radios.
Film club
Thanks to the folks over at Orange, alternate Wednesdays www.odeon.co.uk are the new film night. Usually it's pizzas here first and then down to Kensington. Text me for times, venues and film choice.
Future shorts
Sticking with movies, but this time shorts not features: the folks at FutureShorts www.futureshorts.com have really gotten it off the ground now and have a couple of venues in walking distance including The Gate.
Cine Lumiere
Final regular movie venue for a touch of culture from over the water. See listings on LondonNet.
Clear Blue Water
Looking forward to a few more releases and way more mixes? Limited copies still around through amazon or listen out on for news.
Mountain-biking in Devon or on the Downs
Want to come? Planning a few short three day trips this summer and Autumn if the weather’s kind. You’ll need a mountain bike rather than roadsters, but the going’s pretty easy.
Tristan’s stag weekend
Know the guy? Seen the computer animations? On the list? We’re still sorting it out, but email me from here and you’ll get the access codes for where/when/how and all that including who else is with us. Just be sure to dig out something that’ll make him want to crawl under a table. Let’s face it, if you’re going out for more than 15 years before popping the question, you can’t expect to get off lightly.
Want to come flying?
Thinking about an evening gliding trip while the season lasts...
Snowboards anyone?
So here’s the plan: a few of us are thinking about heading to the Alps in Feb: wanna come? One of my friends is kindly volunteering his house and we can take 6 comfortably, or about 16 if we use all the bedrooms. It’s on the edge of Switzerland in the French Alps a snowball’s throw from www.chatel.com and actually looks onto a piste. From novice snowboarders to downhill maniacs it’s all welcome, and at about 9 days probably okay to drop in just for a bit. Heaps of details to sort out in the meantime and aside from the ski and the après I’m writing a bit so if you just want some clean mountain air and fresh ideas (and have no intention of risking adrenalin or injury) then it could be for you-drop me a line.
Honduras
Third leg of the Central American diving trip from Utila and Roatan along the Northern coast.
Meanwhile if you’re after a good read then three of my friends have cracking new books out...
Richard (Eyre) will drag you through life in the cut-throat world of media
and battles for control in television as only an insider can. Think it’s
glitzy? Think again. Find out more - hey, even try buying a copy (!) -
from
Amazon.
Meanwhile Chris (Cleave) gets the award for the most prophetic title of
the decade by publishing his novel about a terrorist bomb in London on
the week of July 7th. Hats off to Chris for the blogging that followed
and his support for Random’s speedy retraction of the ad campaign, but
with some reviewers likening ‘Incendiary’ to Alex Garland’s ‘The Beach’
in terms of the impact a first novel has, he sure is one to watch. Check
it out. We’re rooting for you Chris.
Finally, Richard (T Kelly) has hit the shelves with a biography of Sean
Penn enjoying the support of the actor, whose, in the publishers words
"volatile relationship with the press initially gained him more fame than
his talent" [the quotes help us with legal suits, right?]. Another one
for ambling through on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Copies shipped straight
away from the world’s
local bookstore.
Dave, Dan, Paddy, your links are all on the way but mail me some reviews please guys.
